History of Government Degree College Pati, Champawat, Uttarakhand
Government Degree College Pati, located in the Pati block of Champawat district in Uttarakhand, was formally announced on 6 April 2018 during the visit of the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. The announcement was made under the leadership of Honorable MLA Shri Puran Singh Fartyal and following a special request by a local delegation.
On 25 February 2019, the Uttarakhand government issued Government Order No. 237/xxiv (7)/2019-01 (Gho)/2019, officially approving the establishment of the college. To manage and operate the college, a College co–ordinance Committee was formed on 10 May 2019, including regional public representatives such as Shri Bhagirath Soradi, Shri Dayanand Joshi, Shri Suresh Chandra Bhatt, and Shri Ghanshyam Sharma.
Academic Development Timeline
- Session 2019-20
Temporary approval was granted to start BA first year with four subjects: Hindi, Sanskrit, English, and Sociology. The first academic session began in August 2019, operating out of the Primary School Pati building. - Session 2020-21
A total of 177 students were admitted across the first and second years. - Session 2021-22
Approval was granted to add two new subjects: Education and History, through Government Order No. 794/xxiv-c-2/2021/01 (Gho)/2019.
In September 2021, the post of Principal was officially created for the college. Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Pandey was appointed as the first Principal and assumed charge on 30 November 2021. - Session 2022-23
Under the guidance of the first Principal, the college shifted to its newly constructed building in November 2022. - Session 2023-24
A proposal has been made to the Directorate to introduce four new subjects: Political Science, Economics, Home Science, and Geography, along with a vocational course in BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications). This proposal is currently under consideration at the government level.
Government Degree College Pati continues to serve as a vital institution for higher education in the region, providing opportunities to students for pursuing graduation in the Arts stream.
