Achievements as Principal of Rajkiy Mahavidyalay Pati, Champawat

Tenure:
Joined as Principal on 30th November 2021 and continually working.

Initial Challenges and Early Progress:

  • Upon joining, the college was operating in 4 rooms of a dilapidated building that was previously a closed primary school.
  • Facilities included 100 plastic chairs, 50 tables, 3 almirahs, and a combined office, library, and staff room.
  • The college had only 2 toilets, which were in poor condition.

Infrastructure Development:

  • Initiated the construction of a new building in collaboration with the Mandi Parishad Rudrapur, a key step in transforming the college’s facilities.
  • Borewell for water supply was installed, a crucial addition that was not part of the initial Detailed Project Report (DPR).
  • Successfully shifted to the ground floor of the under-construction building on 3rd November 2022, achieving this in just 11 months.
  • Constructed a one-room guest house within the college premises, also outside the scope of the original DPR.
  • Developed the college lawn to improve the campus environment.
  • Finally College building was handed over to the college on 25th May 2022

Facilities and Furnishings:

  • Library Development:
    • Sent a proposal to HANS Foundation for library furniture, which was successfully supplied by them.
    • Implemented the E-Granthalay Library System in the college library to digitize resources.
    • BSNL Optical Fiber broadband (200 Mbps) installed for enhanced college administration and student access.
    •  SWAN network introduced for uninterrupted internet service (10 Mbps) for office use.
  • Staff and Student Facilities:
    • Sent a proposal for furniture for teaching staff, Class 3 staff, and the Principal’s room to the Directorate of Higher Education, with funds being allocated for these purchases from the Directorate’s Corpus Fund.
  • Library and Reading Room:
    • Obtained additional furniture for the library and reading room from HANS Foundation.
    • Subscribed to two competitive exam magazines (India Today and Pratiyogita Darpan) for the reading room, enhancing students’ access to valuable resources.

Sustainability and Environment:

  • Planted 150 fruit-bearing plants, including Apple, Apricot, Plum, and Nashpati, on the college grounds to enhance the campus’ green environment.

Proposals and Approvals:

  • P.M. USHA Project: Successfully submitted proposals for new facilities under the P.M. USHA project, resulting in the approval of Rs. 5 Crore funding from the Government of India and Government of Uttarakhand.
  • Girls Hostel: The proposal for a 32-bedded, twin-sharing, well-equipped Girls Hostel was approved by the Uttarakhand State Government.
  • New Subjects and Programs:
    • Proposals for new subjects such as Economics, Political Science, Geography, and Home Science were sent in 2023 and are under government consideration.
    • Proposal for a Bachelor in Computer Applications (BCA) professional program was also submitted in 2023, currently under government review.

College Magazine and Educational Enhancements:

  • Launched the first issue of the college magazine, “Anagh”, for the academic year 2023-24.
  • Installed an Android LCD projector and 10ft x 8ft motorized screen in the meeting/conference room for enhanced audio-visual presentations and online classes.
  • Subscribed to Hotstar, Zee 5, Amazon Prime, and Sony Live OTT platforms for streaming educational documentaries and movies to enrich student learning experiences.

Conclusion: Under my leadership, significant strides have been made in developing infrastructure, enhancing academic resources, improving student facilities, and securing government approvals for new programs and projects, thereby laying the foundation for a prosperous future for the college.
